The surviving production notes (found on an old hard drive purchased at a flea market in Akihabara in 2018) reveal a strange truth: Fiber Star was originally conceived as a public health awareness OVA . A major (but unnamed) Japanese bran cereal company funded the project to promote fiber-rich diets to young adults. The adult humor was added by a freelance director, Kenji “The Shocker” Morita, who believed “toilets and breasts will always sell.”
